Nordplus

The Nordic Council of Ministers established the Nordplus program in 1988 as a mobility- and co-operation program for students and teachers in higher education in the Nordic countries. The program has three specific goals, namely to support and intensify Nordic co-operation within higher education and t oincrease student and teacher mobility. Nordplus´ co-operation is network based and today, the programme involves more than 300 active networks.

With an annual budget of approx. 30 Million DKK, the Nordplus program awards:

  • student and teaching staff mobility grants,
  • grants for planning and running intensive courses, for developing joint study programmes and other network activities,
  • network support.

The NOVA-Nordplus Network
The NOVA-Nordplus Network was established in 1989. At all NOVA institutions, a Nordplus contact person is appointed. Here you can get information about grant opportunities, application procedures, deadlines etc.

About the NOVA-Nordplus mobility grant

Students
Students can apply for a NOVA-Nordplus mobility grant when studying at a NOVA member university.

To get a NOVA-Nordplus grant the exchange must be:
1) a full-time study,
2) between 1-12 month long
3) an intensive course at one of the NOVA institutions
4) eligible for credit transfer
5) you must move to the place in question
6) you must at least be in our second year of study

For study periods exceeding 4 weeks, the grant amounts to 180 euro per month for living expenses. You also receive a travel grant depending on the destination.

For intensive courses lasting at least 5 days (and less than 4 weeks), you can apply for an express mobility grant that amounts to 300 euro for travelling to other NOVA member institutions. If you travel between KVL and SLU/Alnarp or vice versa, the grant is 200 euro, if you go to or from Iceland the grant is 500 euro. Application for students
You apply for course acceptence at the host university. Use the NOVA Mobility Registration Form.

The form must be sent directly to the host university.

You apply for the NOVA Nordplus mobility grant at your home institution.

If you want assistance with accomodation, certain application deadlines at the host university must be observed.

Teachers
Teachers can apply for funding of mobility between NOVA institutions. The stay must be related to specific and integrated teaching activities, tutorial activities, or development of study materials. Nordplus does not support research activities. The stay should last at least 5 days, or include at least 8 hours of teaching.

The teacher mobility grant is 355 euro per week, supplemented by a grant for travel expenses depending on the destination.

Applications and deadlines
Deadline for Nordplus applications is 1 February. Nordplus covers maximum 50% of total costs. Basic costs for teacher and administrative salary should be included in the budget.

For 2005/06, Nordplus prioritises teacher mobility and co-operation, joint study programmes and co-operation between universities and industry.

Deadline for Nordplus Neighbour is 1 February.

Other activities

Intensive courses
Nordplus finances the running of intensive courses (minimum 5 days) held during the semester periods or in the summer period. Course participants must represent at least three Nordic countries. The course must give academic credit (ECTS), and be eligible for academic credit transfer. Funding includes student mobility grants.

Curriculum development
Nordplus also supports curriculum development projects i.e. for developing short (intensive) courses, common study material, and distance learning concepts.

Joint study programmes
You can apply for funding for development and the initial phase of joint programmes. For details, see Nordplus Manual.

NOVA projects
NOVA funds projects within the area of MSc education. The deadline for applications is October 15. All applications sent to NOVA will be considered for the Nordplus application.

Nordplus Neighbour
