The NOVA Prize 2008 was awarded
the NOVA Network NorPath,
within the area of Plant Pathology. The motivation for the prize
was:
For their outstanding
achievements in developing a Nordic Master program in Plant Pathology,
which draws on the strengths of each individual university and their
professional staff. The program will provide a diversity of specialisations,
and will be attractive at both a Nordic and an International level.
The nerwork was approved a substantial
funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers for developing the
program, and the first students will enrol at LIFE and UMB in the
fall of 2008. Other partners in the program are SLU and HU-AF, and
LBHI may follow in a later stage.

The prize, 5.000 euro, was received by Minna Pirhonen and Annika
Djurle at the Annual NOVA seminar in Helsinki.

Who will get the NOVA Prize 2008?
Every year the NOVA Prize
will be awarded to a person, who is working at one of the NOVA member
universities, and with considerable efforts has developed and increased
the Nordic cooperation. The amount of the NOVA Prize is 3.000 euro.
In some occations the prize is increased, like in 2007 when the
winning network got 5.000 euro.
Who can get the
prize?
The prize winner shall work at one of the six NOVA member universities.
The prize winner shall distinguish oneself by considerable efforts
to increase the Nordic cooperation within the fields of NOVA University
Network, or an overriding Nordic collaboration. The NOVA Prize may
be intended for educational efforts as well as development in the
research area. The winner may also be a distinguished NOVA network.
The prize winner shall use the prize money within his duty and for
the benefit of the Nordic area.
Nomination - Deadline
April 1, 2008
Nominations, incl. a motivation in short (maximum one page A4),
may be sent in by employees and/or students at the member universities.
The secretariat need to have the nominations April 1, 2008, at the
latest, by e-mail to secretariat@nova-university.org
The jury representatives are the chairman
of the NOVA board, the rector of NOVA and one member of the NOVA
KUF.
Announcement
The winner will be announced at the NOVA website www.nova-university.org
and the prize will be handed over on the annual NOVA seminar - this
year in Helsinki, on the 24-25 of April, 2008.

and for enlightening NOVA by using the network so successfully as
a platform for international co-operation.
