What
The University of Helsinki was founded in 1640 and it is the oldest and most comprehensive university in Finland. The University has four campuses that accommodate eleven faculties. Besides Helsinki, the University operates in 20 locations around Finland. In addition to being officially bilingual with teaching in Finnish and Swedish, the University offers a wide selection of courses in English. Currently there are 18 international Master's Degree Programmes operating at the University of Helsinki.

The Department of Agriculture and Forestry is part of the Viikki campus. It is located in a culturally and historically valuable landscape, cultivated since the Middle Ages.

The multidisciplinary Viikki campus is a remarkable centre of biosciences at the European level where the challenges of modern biotechnology are met through close interaction between researchers in different disciplines. The Viikki nature reserve is part of the EU Natura 2000 Network with its unique mosaic of wetlands, forests and meadows supporting diverse plant and animal life.
