Background
Workshops in 2001 and 2002
During the annual NOVA conferences 2001 and 2002, workshops were held for discussing possible Nordic cooperation in the area of Aquaculture. Representatives from all NOVA member institutions agreed that there was a need for teacher exchange and that students should have possibilities to travel and participate in unique national courses.

Progress
The first project with NOVA funding was launched in 2003, with the goal to establish a network for Aquaculture among NOVA member institutions. Since then, the network has accomplished:

• A database with aquaculture related courses, course packages and MSc-programs
• Course recognition (overlap information) of these courses
• A common introductory course in Aquaculture including common field week
• We are in the process of creating a MSc-program with a introductory year at UMB and specializations at UMB, KVL, SLU and NVH
