Course abstract

Pig Herd Health and Welfare is a series of five Nordic postgraduate courses. This is based on an agreement between some researchers and practioners in the Nordic countries, which mostly have the same view on pig production with high demands on animal welfare and ethics with restricted use of antibiotics and hormones .The series focus on swine medicine as a basis for research. This 3rd course in the series focus particularly on management, quality and ethics and age related diseases. The course has a practical approach and consists of lectures, group assignments and discussions, and a farm visit; all in the Norwegian mountains.
