The course provides the students with a wide perspective to ongoing
research on bovine mastitis. The participants will increase their
understanding of different aspects of mastitis and be able to plan
and conduct research projects and critically analyze data. The course
program includes research methods used to study mastitis bacteria
as well as the host response of the cow. The main aspects covered
are diagnostics, pathogenesis, immunology, and epidemiology of bovine
mastitis. New methods such as molecular biology and immunological
methods will be in the focus. The course is aimed for PhD students
doing research on bovine mastitis, but can be useful also for veterinarians
specializing in dairy production.
