The aim of this course is to give students a comprehensive and
state-of-the-art understanding of soil erosion, land degradation,
means to stop erosion and restore degraded lands. It is based on
lectures on these topics, field work related to research and practical
projects and hands on experience. The course is designed for students
of environmental, natural, agricultural and related sciences. It
is also quite suitable for Nordic students interested in work in
developing countries. The course has a Nordic dimension by discussing
the norhtern conditions for soil erosion processes and restoration
ecology, and it address open lands and range lands, in addition
to cultivated land. The course adds a new dimention to possible
Nordic coursework not available before. It is a part of an effort
to give Nordic students soil education which is difficult or not
possible for each NOVA member university.
